On Passover we celebrate our story. We are commanded to remember it as if it had happened to us and not just our ancestors. This instruction is profoundly important as it defines the mindset of a people who, even when enjoying the benefits of freedom, must never forget what it means to be a slave.

It is worth noting that this story – our story – has changed the world. It has inspired art, music, and movies. It inspired the founding of America, energized the American civil rights movement, and gave hope to countless oppressed people around the world.

The story of Passover is one of the greatest stories ever told.
