Shalom friends,

Much attention has been focused on Israel’s 70th birthday; however, one could argue that Yom Yerushalayim, Jerusalem Day, is just as important. The State of Israel had been declared in 1948, but it was in 1967, during the Six Day War, when the Jewish people regained sovereignty over Jerusalem and the Temple Mount, fulfilling the yearning detailed in our anthem, Hatikvah: “the 2000 year hope, of being a free nation, in our land, Zion and JERUSALEM.”

We are living what our ancestors dreamed of, what our grandparents and great-grandparents yearned for but could hardly imagine possible – the return of the Nation of Israel to the Land of Israel, the reunification of the body with its heart.

And after 2000 years of exile and 70 more years of wars attempting to remove us from our land and political movements denying our right to our own home, the nations of the world are beginning to recognize our eternal connection to Jerusalem. Guatemala has officially moved their embassy to Jerusalem and next week America will do the same, righting a historic wrong. Other nations will have no choice but to recognize reality.

Ours is a love story between a people and their land, between the land and her people.
