Few grasp or even care about the legal significance of the League of Nations San Remo Resolution in 1920, which incorporated the opening words of the Balfour Declaration of 1917 and was endorsed by the USA in 1922.

Few know the history, and few are aware of its value in today’s continued battle against the racist and Antisemitic BDS anti-Israel/anti-Zionist movement.

QUESTIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • Why does a conference like this matter today?
  • What is the relevance of San Remo in the defense of Zionism, where increasingly our connection to our ancestral homeland is questioned and denied, and in the fight for Jewish rights?
  • Why does San Remo matter when, in the years afterward, it resulted in increased political embattlement?
  • What is its relevance in regard to the debates taking place around the world today?
  • How can the path to independence and recognition be emphasized to strengthen Jewish unity in connection to the future of Israel as a democratic Jewish state, as well as for the global community of supporters of Israel and Jewish nationalism?
