The Founding of Tel Aviv (1909)

Tel Aviv was founded on April 11, 1909. On that day, lot of families arrived by the second aliyah to the place from the the sands of Yaffo. As the group of people didn't know how to divide the land, they made a lottery: 66 white seashells with the name of the participants, and 66 seashells with plot numbers. Each family obtained one white shell and grey one, in that way they became Tel Aviv’s founding families of the first modern hebrew city. Today, Tel Aviv is the economic and technological center of the country.
